Tuition and Costs
Tuition for on-campus graduate courses is $1,118 per credit hour for the 2009-2010 academic year. Visit Colonial Central for more details. Graduate tuition is charged by the credit hour. The MPP and MPA programs are 40 credits each; the PhD in Public Policy and Administration is 72 credits; the Certificate in Nonprofit Management is 12 credits. Graduate tuition and fees at The George Washington University are comparable to the national average for private universities.
The Step Into The World guide is produced by the International Services Office. This is a helpful and informative booklet written for international students, but may be useful to all incoming students. It covers money matters and other frequently asked questions and helpful tips about GW, housing issues, life in the US and more.
Estimated Costs and Expenses
The following is a cost estimate for a single full time student living in a location close to campus involving a commute, with a shared apartment for 12 months. The stated expenses represent an estimate only. Your expenses will differ based on your standard of living and the choices you make about housing and discretionary costs. Expenses associated with overseas travel, temporary housing, health care, maternity and children, and other similar costs are not included. Students expecting to live alone should plan to pay $1000 or more per month for an efficiency (small single room) or one-bedroom apartment near GW. Students with disabilities (blind, deaf, physically disabled or learning disabled) may require additional services that could add to the estimated maintenance expenses. Plan on an increase of about 10% per year in your living expenses, and a similar increase in tuition and University fees each year. For questions about payment and balances, visit the Office of Student Accounts website at Colonial Central or call them at 202-994-7350.
